At the recent Back-to-Basics lecture, guest speaker Fr. Bryce Sibley explored a theme underlying the problems with our culture’s devaluing of sex. More than 60 people listened to him discuss how Pope St. Paul VI’s encyclical, Humanae Vitae, will be a “failure” until we recover the sacred sense of sex.

Fr. Sibley was parochial vicar here in Ville Platte at Sacred Heart Church about 15 years ago. He is currently the long-serving pastor at Our Lady of Wisdom on the campus of UL-Lafayette; and chaplain for the Ragin’ Cajun Catholics. You can follow Fr. Sibley and the Ragin’ Cajun Catholic on SoundCloud, Youtube, and Facebook.
The 2018-2019 Back-to-Basics season kicked off with great start recently, as Fr. Keith LaBove examined and explained Catholic moral teaching on end-of-life issues. More than 60 people braved the rain and inclement weather to learn from Fr. LaBove’s 30+ years of experience as a hospital chaplain. He is also pastor at St. Patrick Church in Lafayette.
There are some copies of Fr. LaBove’s handout still available at the Family Life Center. You may pass by during office hours to pick one up.
Fr. LaBove maintains a personal website. You can access his End-of-Life page here.
