Fr. Dubroc to examine the necessity of the Incarnation

On Dec. 25, Christians celebrate the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ – Christmas. However, nine months earlier, as St. John tells us, “The Word became flesh” (Jn. 1:14), an event we call the Incarnation. Was it necessary for the 2nd Person of the Trinity to “become flesh”, to become Man?

Fr. Blake Dubroc will examine the Incarnation in a Back-to-Basics lecture as we conclude the Christmas Season and begin to peek forward to the climax of Jesus’ life as a man, His death and resurrection.

Join us Monday, Jan. 14, at 5:30 pm, at the Our Lady Queen of All Saints Family Life Center (1220 W. Dardeau St., Ville Platte). Everyone is welcome.

Fr. Sibley explores the “failure” of Humanae Vitae

At the recent Back-to-Basics lecture, guest speaker Fr. Bryce Sibley explored a theme underlying the problems with our culture’s devaluing of sex. More than 60 people listened to him discuss how Pope St. Paul VI’s encyclical, Humanae Vitae, will be a “failure” until we recover the sacred sense of sex.

To listen to his talk – and to look at the upcoming Back-to-Basics schedule, go to the main B-2-B page.

Fr. Sibley was parochial vicar here in Ville Platte at Sacred Heart Church about 15 years ago. He is currently the long-serving pastor at Our Lady of Wisdom on the campus of UL-Lafayette; and chaplain for the Ragin’ Cajun Catholics. You can follow Fr. Sibley and the Ragin’ Cajun Catholic on SoundCloud, Youtubeand Facebook.
