The November session of the Back-to-Basics series will look at the Divine Office, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours. The talk, given by Fr. Matthew Barzare (former parochial vicar at Sacred Heart parish), will be given on Monday, Nov. 13, at 5:30 pm, at the Family Life Center.
The Divine Office is the public daily prayer of the Faithful, held along with the Mass as the two most important pillars of the Church. Priests and religious are obligated to pray the Liturgy of the Hours, and the lay faithful are strongly encouraged to pray at least parts of it, too.
Fr. Barzare will discuss the importance of the Divine Office and how to pray it. Please join us.

Guest lecturer Fr. Clinton Sensat gave a great talk about Marian Apparitions to a crowd of nearly 100 people, as part of the Back-t0-Basics lecture series. In the 50 minute-long talk, Fr. Sensat identified the apparitions as private revelation, explaining the significance of that; discussed the possible modes of the apparitions; examined how the Church concludes whether or not the apparition is of supernatural origin; and looked at three lesser-known apparitions.
Fr. Sensat, now pastor at St. Thomas More Church in Eunice, is the former parochial vicar at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ville Platte.
The next Back-to-Basics lecture will be on Nov. 14: “A Primer on Purgatory and Indulgences” by Fr. Taj Glodd, the current parochial vicar at Sacred Heart.
