Ville Platte Christian Missions to go to Honduras

Ville Platte Christian Missions, under the direction of Winston Lafleur (with his daughter Tiffany Fontenot), will be making a trip to Honduras this summer, from July 13-20. The cost of going on the mission is $1,200. This includes all transportation (including airfare), room, and board.

Anyone who is interested in going on mission should contact Winston as soon as possible (337-230-5811).

The mission group will perform work, like repairing schools or a water softening project, while in Honduras. It will fly to the capital of Tegucigalpa, and travel by bus to Juticalpa, the area where the mission work is to be done.

If you can’t make it to Honduras, but would like to help, Ville Platte Christian Missions is planning a Benefit Dance & Supper on May 5 at the Civic Center. If you want to help with the benefit, contact Winston.

Winston’s missionary activity started back in the mid-2000s, when Fr. Randy Moreau led a group of parishioners on mission to Mexico. Winston also went on mission in 2009, and every year since 2011. He – and other Ville Plattians – normally went with a group organized through St. John the Evangelist parish in Prairieville, La. However, there is enough Ville Platte interest to have our own group.

If you are interested in going, give Winston a call as soon as possible.

OLQAS to host Educational Passover Seder

Once again, Our Lady Queen of All Saints will host an educational Passover Seder at 6:30 on Wednesday, Mar. 28, of Holy Week. Everyone is invited to attend. HOWEVER, you must R.S.V.P. by calling the Family Life Center at 337.363.5167.

The meal will be held at the Family Life Center. OLQAS parish will provide the meat for the meal. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. To see photos of previous celebrations, click here (2014) and here (2015).

When Jesus celebrated the Last Supper (on Holy Thursday), he was celebrating a Passover Meal with his Apostles. Although technically he did not celebrate according to the same rituals that are used in Judaism today, it nevertheless was a ritualized Passover Meal. Such ritualized meals are called “seders” because the proceed according to a certain, formalized narrative.

Here are some resources for learning about Passover Seders:

Bonus (not related to the Passover Meal, but interesting to read): “Was Jesus Really Crucified with the Passover Lambs?” article by Brant Pitre.

Please pray for his parents (John and Christina Fontenot), siblings, and parents, for God to support them, too. Please pray for an increase in religious vocations.
