On Sunday, Jan. 24, Ville Platte Christians held their annual Pro-Life Walk, commemorating the dreadful Roe v Wade decision legalizing abortion in the United States in 1973. Since that time, more than 55 million children have been killed through abortion. However, the Pro-Life movement is quietly having the positive impact on our culture that is needed.
After leaving from Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, the group walked through Ville Platte to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. At Sacred Heart, Deanna Wallace, legislative director for Louisiana Right to Life, gave a powerful testimony of the power of adoption, encouraging the pro-life warriors to look for ways to help make it easier for young pregnant women to choose life.
OLQAS Church would like to thank Stephanie Andrus, our pro-life coordinator, for organizing the walk. We would also like to thank Fr. Tom Voorhies, pastor at Sacred Heart, for welcoming us. And we would like to thank Steven Sawtelle, pastor at Freedom Family Church, his wife, Sarahi, and members of his congregation for joining us in this ecumenical movement.
